Pipeline Breakdown
The pipeline for All of My Feelings consisted of four key steps: Animatic, Rough Animation, Cleanup Animation, & Compositing.
Working directly from the script, I drew storyboards to match the progression of the monologue and timed them in an animatic. Once locked, I began the rough animation process. This included Cel Animation in TVPaint and 2D Animation in After Effects. Utilizing both software allowed for an economic and forgiving animation workflow. Looping cel animation of the sinking figure is animated with a position null to achieve the shot shown above. Once the roughs were completed, the animation was cleaned up and colored in TVPaint.
The final step is compositing. Utilizing an experimental approach, this included coloring, texturing, and 2D effects animation.

Why design in After Effects?
Unique to this project, I decided to execute the final design of each shot within After Effects. To achieve an experimental style, the pipeline naturally needed to leave room for experimentation. By animating economically, this left room in the compositing stage for play. This approach offered spontaneity, resulting in unexpected yet rewarding visuals. I manipulated various looping textures, blending modes, and layer styles and utilized effects and presets to breathe life into every shot.

Early Development
While not all ideas make it into the final film, their conception is essential to the film’s execution. I invest in a thorough ideation and development period to explore a visual narrative that will effectively communicate the story at hand. This stage is all about feeling and instinct.
